After removing the neck, flatten the neck block first. I use the end of my workbench as a guide for the sanding block.flat.
Use a flat block to check the neck block surface.
Use a long straight edge to check the fingerboard alignment. The top edge should be set back 1-2mm.
Check the alignment with the 1st string hole of the bridge. The edge should be parallel plus 1 mm at the neck joint.
The end of the neck is sanded to the angle necessary for proper action and alignment with the bridge. I use the sanding board.
A forstner bit is used to drill a 1/2 inch dia hole 1/2 inch deep. A spacer is added to replace the length lost during sanding to align the parts.
I use a transfer point to mark the center of the mating dowel hole.
The dowel should be chamfered on both ends and grooved lengthwise to allow trapped glue to escape.
After gluing, hold the neck in place for 3-5minutes until the glue gels, then prop it upright overnight. Check the alignment in both directions.
The bracelet is softened in hot water, and clamped in place with a flat cord tightened with wedges. Trim, sand and refinish, you're done!
