Abdo George Nahat was the second of the oud dynasty. He was born in 1863, and there
was an earlier Abdo who built in 1839 the first oud pictured. Abdo George's early ouds
were not decorative, but some of his later instruments are the most intricate
and highest quality woodwork ever
seen. The tone of these ouds is considered by most oudists the best ever
produced by any Arabic luthier, making them the most sought after of all the
Nahat ouds.
